An experiment to check the accuracy of cricket scorecards for games in 2020. 591 international and domestic T20 scorecards were compared across 5 different sources, and any discrepancies noted. The result was that 111 matches (18.78%) of matches had discrepancies.
The breakdown of matches with discrepancies by match type was 22 Test matches (15 discrepancies, 68.18%); 50 ODIs (13 discrepancies, 26.00%); 157 T20 internationals (26 discrepancies, 16.56%); and 362 Domestic T20s (57 discrepancies, 15.75%).
The sources checked were Big Bash, with 6 incorrect scorecards (120 matches, 5.00%), Cricingif, with 6 incorrect scorecards (33 matches, 18.18%), CricketArchive, with 19 incorrect scorecards (591 matches, 3.21%), ECB, with 12 incorrect scorecards (126 matches, 9.52%), ESPNcricinfo, with 32 incorrect scorecards (591 matches, 5.41%), ICC, with 24 incorrect scorecards (158 matches, 15.19%), and IPL, with 0 incorrect scorecards (60 matches, 0.00%).
The competitions checked were Big Bash, with 16 discrepancies (120 matches, 13.33%), Caribbean Premier League, with 4 discrepancies (33 matches, 12.12%), Indian Premier League, with 1 discrepancy (60 matches, 1.67%), Pakistan Super League, with 10 discrepancies (32 matches, 31.25%), Super Smash, with 5 discrepancies (28 matches, 17.86%), and T20 Blast, with 21 discrepancies (89 matches, 23.60%).
